“Our So-Called President”: Twitter Explodes After Trump Attacks “So-Called Judge” Who Halted Travel Ban
“He’s already tried to undermine confidence in the voting process, now on to the judicial branch”
President Donald Trump took to Twitter on Saturday to respond to U.S. District Judge James Robart’s decision Friday to halt the administration’s immigration ban.Â
In doing so, Trump again acknowledged that his anti-Muslim executive order is in fact a “ban” — despite Press Secretary Sean Spicer’s claims to the contrary this week.Â
Trump also referred to Robart as a “so-called judge” — even though he was nominated by fellow Republican President George W. Bush and confirmed by a 99-0 vote of the Senate.Â
“When a country is no longer able to say who can, and who cannot , come in & out, especially for reasons of safety &.security – big trouble!” Trump wrote. “Interesting that certain Middle-Eastern countries agree with the ban. They know if certain people are allowed in it’s death & destruction!
“The opinion of this so-called judge, which essentially takes law-enforcement away from our country, is ridiculous and will be overturned!”
Here’s how Twitter responded.Â
The first question at Judge Gorsuch’s confirmation hearing should be whether he condones this disparagement of a fellow federal judge. https://t.co/b7VNgRtu3R

Well it’s been two weeks and now President Trump is openly questioning the legitimacy of the judiciary. https://t.co/QwNqone5RA

New rule: Trump himself has to write the appeal. Would love to read that filing. https://t.co/cSro5lo8HR

Dismissing a “so-called judge” is no joke. If you don’t stand behind court orders, Trump will ignore them like demands for his tax returns. https://t.co/gkGxhWXpO1

The executive branch calls a judge “so-called.” Not troubling at all. Nothing to see here. https://t.co/RvJpNW0gnf

What the hell is happening? “So-called judge”? This is horrifying and members of his inner circle need to get him under control. https://t.co/uAoZkiTNbW

That “so-called judge” could hold you in contempt for disparagement. Tread lightly, Mr. president. https://t.co/1WMSmsSydg

For the record, the US *already* says who can come in and out—the visa screening process often takes years to pass: https://t.co/ZVQUglAsT0 pic.twitter.com/42w2Tm4wAy

Does it take law enforcement away from the country, or does it say actions by law enforcement must comply with the law? https://t.co/83AgDSE5nd

When a country’s executive branch, in the name of security, evades orders from the judiciary — even bigger trouble. https://t.co/MNTMg7AGkI https://t.co/YIWjrSqy8C

Stop lying. We can, and do, say this already, without your executive order. https://t.co/NxmdmVVJ41
