Hypocrite-In-Chief Trump On Pace To Spend 10 Times More Than Obama On Travel

President Once Referred To Predecessor As “Habitual Vacationer”

President Donald Trump, who frequently criticized Barack Obama for vacationing, is on pace to spend nearly 10 times as much on travel as his predecessor.

Trump, who once called Obama a “habitual vacationer,” is currently spending a third consecutive weekend at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida. The three trips are expected to cost the federal government a combined total of $10 million, according to an analysis by The Washington Post.

The conservative group Judicial Watch, which tracked the cost of Obama’s family vacations, estimates they totaled $97 million over eight years. At his current rate of $10 million per month, Trump’s costs would reach $960 million in, God forbid, eight years.

“This is an expensive way to conduct business, and the president should recognize that,” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton told the Post.

Trump said in 2015 that if elected president, ““I would rarely leave the White House because there’s so much work to be done.”

Now, he’s referring to Mar-a-Lago as “the winter White House” and “the Southern White House.” But given that he owns the private club, he’s benefiting financially from the cost of his own taxpayer-funded travel.

And the $10 million doesn’t include other unprecedented costs that are being run up by the administration, including $500,000 a day (or $183 million annually) to guard first lady Melania Trump, who refuses to live in the White House, at Trump Tower in New York City. The Secret Service is also tasked with guarding Trump’s four adult children, with one former agent referring to the situation as “a logistical nightmare.”

The Trump administration responded by insisting that Trump is “not vacationing when he goes to Mar-a-Lago.”

“The president works nonstop every day of the week, no matter where he is,” White House spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham told the Post.
