Eleven days ago President Donald Trump signed an executive order banning Muslims from seven countries from entering the United States. Between 60,000 and 100,000 people with valid travel visas saw them revoked in a later, secret order not widely reported until last week when a U.S. Attorney defending the ban in court revealed that previously undisclosed information.
The State of Washington sued the Trump administration over the ban and a federal district judge not only granted the request for a temporary hold on the ban, but stated it believes the State has sufficient grounds to win its case in court.Â
The Trump administration appealed, claiming the American people are in danger without the ban. That was this past weekend. Clearly, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, which is hearing the case at 6 PM EST today, isn’t rushing.
The Court also announced it will not hand down a decision today, but rather, at some point this week, also signaling it likely doesn’t think the federal government’s case is strong enough to overturn the lower court’s ruling.
Reading the tea leaves, the Trump administration now says the upcoming ruling isn’t especially important.
