Laura Ingraham: Anti-Trump Protesters Are “Criminals” Who”ll Cry “Martial Law” When Police Use Force On Them
Right-Wing Pundit Predicts “Powder Keg Moment” When Law Enforcement Will Intervene To “Keep People Safe”
Conservative radio host Laura Ingraham said Sunday that many anti-Trump protesters are in fact “criminals,” suggesting that when police inevitably begin to use force on them, progressives will accuse the president of implementing “martial law.”Â
Ingraham, who wanted to be press secretary in Trump’s White House, is now mulling a campaign for U.S. Senate.Â
During an appearance on “Fox News Sunday,” Ingraham pointed to an incident Friday in which a handful of protesters blocked Education Secretary Betsy DeVos from entering a public school.Â
“We — we had protesters who this week — they call themselves protesters,” Ingraham said. “Many of them are just criminals. And they’re criminals because they’re denying a government official the ability to do government business at a public school.”Â
Ingraham added that Trump’s opponents have created a “caricature” of DeVos.Â
“They complain that, oh, she doesn’t know anything about public schools. She hates public schools. She’s going to kill all public schools,” Ingraham said. “Then she goes to a public school and the most vicious, horrible things are said about her, preventing her from actually entering the school at some point.”Â
She went on to say that the “resistance movement” is being “fueled and fomented” by Democrats in Congress as well as former President Barack Obama. Â
“What we’ve been seeing at Berkeley, and even at this DeVos thing, which I think frankly gets scary, is that there’s — there’s a push to bring this to this powder keg moment where at some point force will have to be used to keep people safe,” she said. “Then they’re going to say, ‘See, it’s police brutality. Trump has a police state. It’s martial law.’ The volume pitch that is being brought up because they lost, they’re bitter about it and they have nothing to do except stop other people from speaking.”Â
