Government Ethics Office: ‘Strong Reason to Believe’ Kellyanne Conway Should Be Disciplined Over ‘Free Commercial’ for Ivanka

‘I Recommend That the White House Investigate Ms. Conway’s Actions and Consider Taking Disciplinary Action Against Her’

The Office of Government Ethics has just notified the White House that Kellyanne Conway likely violated the law when she gave a “free commercial” for Ivanka Trump’s clothing and accessories line on national TV from the White House. Democrats, including House Oversight Committee Ranking Member Elijah Cummings, had contacted the OGE and called for an investigation.

In a letter to the Deputy Counsel to the President, Office of Government Ethics director Walter Shaub writes that “there is strong reason to believe” Conway “violated the Standards of Conduct and that disciplinary action is warranted.”

“I recommend that the White House investigate Ms. Conway’s actions and consider taking disciplinary action against her,” Shaub stated.

Democrats on the House Oversight Committee released the letter via Twitter:
