GOP Congressman: Republicans Haven’t Said Anything About Michael Flynn Scandal Because It’s Valentine’s Day
‘I Guess They’re Having Breakfast With Their Wives’
Monday night National Security Advisor Michael Flynn resigned in disgrace, after being caught lying to Vice President Mike Pence about his conversations with Russian officials, which included discussions about sanctions on Russia.
Asked why Republicans, including House Speaker Paul Ryan, have remained wholly silent on the latest and perhaps largest scandal caused by the Trump White House – one that has top national security implications – a very glib U.S Congressman Chris Collins, Republican of New York, told CNN his fellow congressmen are busy “having breakfast with their wives.”
“It’s Valentine’s Day,” Collins, who served as the Trump campaign’s New York co-chairman, told Chris Cuomo Tuesday morning. “Really, all I can say is, I’m sorry to see General Flynn go. I don’t know the details of what transpired,” he said, as The Hill reported.
Rep. Collins, who infamously compared civil rights icon Rep. John Lewis to a “pouting child” throwing a “tantrum” by saying he would not attend Trump’s inauguration, added: “I think it’s just time to move on,” from the Flynn scandal, “find a replacement.”
