Four Out of 10 Voters Want to Impeach Donald Trump

Majority of Americans Want Barack Obama to Return

In a 2004 New York Times Magazine article by Ron Suskind, this now-famous (infamous?) quote appeared:

“The aide,” now known to be Karl Rove, “said that guys like me were ‘in what we call the reality-based community,’ which he defined as people who “believe that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality.’ I nodded and murmured something about enlightenment principles and empiricism. He cut me off. ‘That’s not the way the world really works anymore,’ he continued. ‘We’re an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you’re studying that reality — judiciously, as you will — we’ll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that’s how things will sort out. We’re history’s actors . . . and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do.'”

Hold on to that thought as you read the rest of this article.

In an “unpresidented” finding, a new poll reveals four out of ten voters want to impeach President Donald Trump.

The news, from Public Policy Polling, gets worse for Trump. Not only do 40 percent of voters want to impeach their new president, but less than half of Americans, 48 percent, oppose impeaching him.

And more bad news for Trump: The majority of Americans, 53 percent, want President Barack Obama back. Only 43 percent want Trump to stay.

And yes, it gets worse if you dig into the source of their discontent.

49 percent are opposed to Trump’s Muslim ban, 52 percent say it is intended to be a ban on Muslims. In the abstract, a whopping 65 percent of voters oppose a ban on Muslims, just 26 percent support one.

Aside from the specifics of the ban, the majority of Americans, 55 percent say the rollout of the ban was handled poorly.

Adding more insight into the perceptions of Trump voters, this from PPP shows Trump voters just don’t seem to be living in reality:

“The attitudes of Trump voters on the issue of the order being a Muslim ban are telling. 71% claim they don’t think the intent of the executive order was to ban Muslims from entering the country, to 23% who say that was the intent. But then when you ask Trump voters what their feelings on banning Muslims from the country are, they support it. 48% of Trump voters support banning Muslims from entering the country, to 40% who are opposed. So they say it’s not a Muslim ban, but they want a Muslim ban, and 94% of them support the order.”

Um, OK…

Which makes this even more nuts:

“Trump voters also continue to refuse to believe in the sincerity of those protesting him. 48% think the folks who protested at airports across the country last weekend were paid to do so by George Soros, to only 31% who think the protesters weren’t paid. Trump voters thought the women’s marchers were all paid by Mr. Soros as well so clearly the Trump administration is going to be very expensive for him.”

So, how much did you get?…
