REPORTS: Breitbart May Be About to Fire Milo

‘Could Come by the End of the Day’

Multiple reports say that Breitbart may be ready to fire Milo Yiannopoulos over videos that resurfaced showing him appearing to condone or even advocate for underage sex with young teen boys. Yiannopoulos has posted several explanations to his Facebook page, including one that finally shows a modicum of understanding of the gravity of the issue, but it may be too late for the “alt-right” provocateur who has made a career out of making outlandish, hate-filled, misogynistic, transphobic, and racially-charged remarks.

Breitbart, where Yiannopoulos is a senior editor, was the home to Steve Bannon, who served as the far right wing website’s publisher until Donald Trump tapped him to be his campaign CEO, and later, the White House Chief Strategist. The Trump White House now employs several staffers who came from Breitbart.

But there’s great turbulence at Breitbart, and journalists with inside sources say Yiannopoulos made finally have found a line to cross from which he cannot return.

“There are ongoing discussions at Breitbart this afternoon about Milo’s future with the company, per sources,” Washington Post reporter Robert Costa tweeted.

Washingtonian magazine’s Elaina Plott tweets, “scoop: Breitbart senior editor tells me at least half a dozen employees ready to walk out if Milo is not fired.”

And in a lengthy post on Facebook, Fox Business’ Charlie Gasparino says “Milo Yiannopoulos, the provocative conservative journalist who is often portrayed as a champion of the far-right, is facing possible dismissal from his employer Breitbart News over comments he once made about underage sex.”

“His possible dismissal from Breitbart could come by the end of the day, according to people at the Conservative website,” Gasparino adds.

Yiannopoulos appeared on Bill Maher’s HBO show Friday where he attacked transgender people. He was invited to speak at CPAC, the conservative stronghold of the far right wing, but his seeming support (he denies it) for underage sex and statutory rape has made him too toxic for even that venue, and his speech was canceled Monday afternoon.

Simon & Schuster has yet to say a word. The publisher paid Yiannopoulos a quarter of a million dollars in a book contract.
