Who’s Going to Pay for the Wall? Taxpayers!
Mexico Repeatedly Has Refused to Pay for Trump’s Wall
Donald Trump’s number one campaign promise was so well-known to his supporters it became party of his stump speech schtick.Â
“Who’s going to pay for the wall?” Trump would ask at every campaign rally.
“Mexico!” his supporters, on cue, would shout.
Here’s an iconic example:

But now, Donald Trump’s transition team is asking taxpayers to foot the bill, and turning to Congress before he’s even sworn in, to begin drafting the appropriations bill and have it funded by April.
“The move would break a key campaign promise when Trump repeatedly said he would force Mexico to pay for the construction of the wall along the border, though in October, Trump suggested for the first time that Mexico would reimburse the US for the cost of the wall,” CNN reports.
There is no guarantee or mechanism to force Mexico to reimburse U.S. taxpayers for the cost of a wall between the two countries, and Mexico has repeatedly said it will not pay for it. In one iconic moment, former Mexico president Vicente Fox very colorfully said he’s “not going to pay for that f*cking wall.”
A furious Trump took to Twitter early Friday morning to bash the media for “not reporting” that Mexico will reimburse Americans for building the wall, despite many reporting Trump’s claim they will.
The dishonest media does not report that any money spent on building the Great Wall (for sake of speed), will be paid back by Mexico later!

Again, there is no guarantee Mexico’s citizens have any desire to do so, especially given how Trump has treated them.
Here’s Trump in August providing great detail of the wall, promising that Mexico will pay for his wall:
On Twitter, many mocked Trump – and his supporters for believing him:
Remember the chants at Trump rallies? Trump: “Who’s gonna pay for the wall?” Crowd: “Mexico!!” Real answer should’ve been: “We are! We are!” https://t.co/ahBTPB6e1M

Donald Trump will pay all of his contractors before Mexico pays for the wall.

Trump duped supporters on their 3 top issues. They’re too dumb to care:

âŒlock her up
âŒdrain the swamp

Trump asking Congress, not Mexico, to fund the wall. Must admit, he’s way better at telling his supporters to go fuck themselves than I am.

A few things I haven’t seen:
* A plan for Mexico to pay for the wall
* A member of Congress proposing a Trump tariff bill
* A Trumpcare plan— Steven Dennis (@StevenTDennis) January 6, 2017
And there it is, Trump fans.
Mexico isn’t paying for the idiotic wall. We are. https://t.co/g3cWYF6fHv

If you didn’t know all along that Trump’s promise Mexico would pay for his border wall was a blatant lie, what the hell is wrong with you?

So the working class who voted for Donald Trump because he said Mexico would pay for the wall will actually be the ones paying for the wall. https://t.co/dsQ8wg8OK1
