Trump Tweets Lies About His Historically Low Approval Ratings, Projected Abysmal Inauguration Attendance Numbers

President-elect Trump has been tweeting up a storm this Tuesday morning, and it seems clear he’s upset about how much people do not like him.

President Barack Obama‘s first inauguration broke attendance records, with 1.8 million people flooding the streets of Washington, D.C. to support the incoming administration, and to witness history. 

By comparison, Donald Trump‘s inauguration Friday is expected to draw half the number of people. 

“Planners say they are expecting no more than 900,000 people to attend Trump’s ceremonies Jan. 20,” NBC Washington reports. 

And while the “D.C. Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management is planning for 800,000 to 900,000 people to attend the swearing-in ceremony and inaugural parade,” NBC notes the “Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Activities (JCCIC), which plans and executes all ceremonies, is expecting 700,000 to 750,000 people.”

President Obama’s second inauguration drew one million people, again, substantially more than projected for Trump’s inauguration Friday. 

Last week a scared Donald Trump, angry at Meryl Streep‘s brilliant Golden Globes speech attacking him, tried to convince people of his popularity by telling The New York Times, “All the dress shops are sold out in Washington. It’s hard to find a great dress for this inauguration.”

That, of course, was a lie.

Tuesday morning, Trump lashed out again, trying to convince people of his popularity – which is slim at best. Trump took to Twitter to claim people are “pouring into Washington,” which is, compared to Obama’s inauguration, false.

Immediately some on Twitter pushed back.

Britain’s The Independent today reports that ticket scalpers are getting scalped – there’s little demand to buy inauguration tickets.

Even before Trump’s tweet, The Hollywood Reporter noted D.C. may be flooded, but with Trump protestors, not supporters:

Trump Tuesday morning also pushed back against widespread reports his popularity numbers are historically low – which they are, especially for an incoming president.

ABC News’ Chief Political Analyst Tuesday morning tweeted just how bad Trump’s numbers are, in comparison to other new administrations:

But according to Trump, the polls are all wrong, and are “rigged,” just like – he claimed – they were before the election, which is false. Clinton won by nearly 3 million more votes, and would have won the election but for about 80,000 votes across three states.

Trump is not only a “sore winner,” he’s a serial liar – a combination Americans increasingly will find unacceptable.
