President-Elect Doesn’t Know When To Quit
President-elect Donald Trump has cancelled his planned visit to the National African American Museum on Monday to mark Martin Luther King Jr. Day.Â
ABC News is reporting that Trump’s visit, first announced Saturday afternoon, was removed from his calendar due to “scheduling issues.”
“Trump is expected to visit the museum sometime after he assumes office, the sources say,” according to ABC. “He will commemorate Martin Luther King Jr. Day in Washington, D.C., in another way, though details were not immediately available today.”Â
The visit was announced in the wake of Trump’s attack Saturday morning on Georgia Democratic Congressman John Lewis, which prompted widespread outrage. Lewis, a civil rights icon, championed the creation of the museum and is featured prominently in some of its exhibits.Â
But shortly after the museum visit was announced, rather than apologizing to Lewis, Trump doubled down on the attack.Â
“Congressman John Lewis should finally focus on the burning and crime infested inner-cities of the U.S. I can use all the help I can get!” Trump wrote Saturday evening, 12 hours after his initial tweets criticizing Lewis.Â
