Trump Calls Inauguration Crowd “Massive,” Says God Shielded Event From Rain

President Thanks Fox News For Positive Reviews Of Speech

President Donald Trump claimed Friday night that the crowd for his inauguration was “unbelievable” and “massive” — despite numerous photos showing that it was significantly smaller than the one President Barack Obama drew in 2009.

“Even the media said the crowd was massive,” Trump said during one of several inaugural balls where he spoke Friday night.

Trump also suggested that despite Friday’s weather forecast, “the rain never came” during the inauguration.

“God was looking down on us, I will tell you,” he said. In fact, as David Corn of Mother Jones pointed out, it started raining just as Trump began his speech:

Trump also referred to his critics as “enemies,” complained about “phony polls” prior to the election, and told servicemembers they are “much finer people, nicer people” than members of the media.

While Fox News analysis reportedly praised Trump’s speech as “muscular,” “unifying” and “just masterful,” it’s unclear to which other news outlets the president was referring, as his address was almost universally panned:
