Trump Aide Responds To Whitehouse.gov Petition: “He’s Not Going To Release His Tax Returns”

“We The People” Effort Garners More Than 200K Signatures In 48 Hours

President Donald Trump has no plans to release his tax returns, despite a successful petition on the official White House website calling for him to do so.

By Sunday morning, the “We the People” petition had garnered 208,941 signatures, more than double the number needed to warrant an official White House response. On ABC News’ “This Week,” host George Stephanapoulos asked White House counselor Kellyanne Conway about it.

“The White House response is that he’s not going to release his tax returns,” Conway said. “We litigated this all through the election. People didn’t care, they voted for him. And let me make this very clear, most Americans are very focused on what their tax returns will look like while President Trump is in office, not what his look like.”

In fact, almost three quarters of Americans said in a recent ABC News/Washington Post poll that they want Trump to release his tax returns.

But hey, alternative facts!
