Protests Planned Across Country In Response to Trump’s Muslim Ban

“This is racist. This is wrong. We will stand and protest!”

One week after millions gathered to protest President Donald Trump at Women’s Marches, a new slate of events were being planned to fight his executive order banning immigration from seven Muslim-majority countries.

The order signed Friday temporarily bans all entry to the United States by citizens of Iran, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Sudan, Somalia and Yemen. On Saturday, Trump administration officials confirmed that the ban applies even to those with green cards, meaning they are permanent legal residents of the United States.

“Trump’s ban will not do anything to combat the risk of terrorism,” wrote one group planning a protest at San Francisco’s airport Saturday afternoon. “In fact, if anything, it will make the problem of terrorism worse, by further inflaming anti-American passion among extremists throughout the Middle East.

“THIS BAN IS RACISM, PURE AND SIMPLE,” the group added. “Unadulterated, unapologetic xenophobia, completely unnecessary, Unconstitutional, and Unamerican. We will not allow for discrimination against people based solely on their religion or country of origin. This is racist. This is wrong. We will stand and protest!”

A protest at JFK Airport in New York City (pictured) drew hundreds on Saturday. Other rallies were planned Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., Seattle and Orlando:
