BREAKING: Republicans Pass Resolution to Begin Process of Pulling Plug on Obamacare

Republicans Defeat Democratic Amendment That Would Have Kept Obamacare Alive

The House of Representatives have just voted in favor of a resolution that begins the process of pulling the plug on the Affordable Care Act. The vote was 227-198. Nine Republicans joined all Democrats in opposition.

In its current form the resolution instructs the House to draft a bill to repeal Obamacare in full, including the popular portions like allowing parents to keep their children on their policies until thy reach age 26, and banning insurance companies from refusing to cover people with pre-existing conditions.

The Senate early Thursday morning passed the same resolution, which means that the House will now draft then vote on a bill to repeal Obamacare.

Republicans also just defeated an amendment that would have kept Obamacare alive, by a vote of 149-272. 235 Republicans and 37 Democrats voted against the amendment. 149 Democrats voted for it.
