Google Says Searches for ‘Who Is My Representative’ Spiked as House GOP Tried to Gut Ethics Office

Calls to Congress, Not President-Elect’s Tweet, Responsible for Win Against GOP on Ethics Office

Despite the best efforts of the mainstream media, including The New York Times, CNN, and MSNBC’s Chuck Todd, Donald Trump‘s two tweets late Tuesday morning did not cause House Republicans to reverse course on gutting the Office of Congressional Ethics, rather, the countless thousands of Americans who learned of the GOP’s secret efforts then called their representatives, did.

Google solidifies this fact – confirmed by journalists including MSNBC’s Joy Reid and USA Today’s Susan Page – in a tweet pointing to a “spike” in Google searches for “who is my representative” after House Republicans voted Monday night behind closed doors to pass an amendment gutting the ethics office.

The Hill, AOL News, and others reported the spike in Google searches Tuesday evening.

Meanwhile, Twitter exploded in anger after MSNBC’s Chuck Todd on “Meet the Press” falsely claimed that Trump’s two tweets late Tuesday morning were the reason House Republicans scrapped the attempt to gut the ethics office.
