Conway: Trump to Hold Long Delayed Press Conference on Conflicts of Interest January 11

Trump Has Not Held Press Conference in 6 Months, Canceled One Scheduled for December

Incoming White House advisor Kellyanne Conway says Donald Trump will hold a long delayed press conference on January 11, one day after President Barack Obama‘s farewell address from Chicago. Pressed on CNN Monday night about the president-elect’s cancellation of his December 12 press conference, Conway on “Anderson Cooper 360” said, “I believe it was rescheduled for January 11, originally, and if the lawyers and the compliance officers feel like we’re ready, then we’ll stick to that date. It’s really up to them.”  

“But I know that I spoke to the president-elect today about the press conference and I know that’s the current plan. So that’s next week,” she added. Politico characterized her response by reporting Conway “left the door open for it to be pushed back.”

Having never held a press conference after being elected, a huge break with tradition and showing of a lack of respect to the press and to the American people, Donald Trump had promised to hold the press event last month, which he then canceled. He had also promised to lay out in detail how he and his administration and family will deal with the vast conflicts of interest he faces.

Many have noted the moment Trump takes the oath of office he will be in violation of the Emoluments Clause of the U.S. Constitution.
