6 Dead, 8 Wounded in Terror Attack After Gunmen Shoot Into Mosque With 50 People Praying

‘Canadians Grieve for Those Killed in a Cowardly Attack on a Mosque in Quebec City’ Prime Minister Trudeau Says

Two gunmen have been arrested after they allegedly opened fire Sunday night into a Quebec, Canada mosque, killing six people and wounding eight others, in what Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called  a “terrorist attack on Muslims.”

There were over 50 people in prayer at the time,

The attack comes just 48 hours after U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order banning Muslims from seven countries, but prioritizing Christian immigrants. In response, Trudeau offered Canada as a temporary home to banned refugees.

Two men in their 20’s are being held for the murders.

“Quebec is in shock tonight following the drama that occurred at the Center culturel Islamique de Québec,” the mayor of Quebec City, Régis Labeaume, said in a statement, as ABC News reports. “My first thoughts go to the victims and their affected families as they gathered for prayer.”

“Quebec City is an open city where everyone must be able to live together in safety and respect,” he added. “I invite all the people to unite and to be in solidarity. Québec is strong, Québec is proud, Québec is open to the world.”
