WATCH: Asked if He Thinks Trump Is ‘Evil’ George Takei Says ‘I Think Mr. Trump Is Uninformed’

‘It’s Getting to Be Even More Worrisome’

Beloved actor and activist George Takei, a vocal and frequent critic of Donald Trump, told CNN Thursday he doesn’t think the president-elect is evil, but uninformed.

Do you believe that Mr. Trump is evil?” CNN anchor Carol Costello asked Takei.

I think Mr. Trump is uninformed,” the 79-year old responded. He said after the election he was in a state of shock. “For a good number of days, I could not see things with an even balance.”

Takei says it hasn’t gotten better, in fact, “it’s getting to be even more worrisome. The kind of people he’s appointing to major Cabinet positions, Jeff Sessions, to head the Department of Justice, when he has a history of racism and he was denied a judgeship because of that history?”

He also discussed his tweet about Trump’s TIME magazine cover:

Not many know, but Takei as a 5-year old child was taken at gunpoint by U.S. soldiers to live in an interment camp for Japanese-Americans, even though he and his parents were born in the U.S. Takei talked about it in a 2012 ad he recorded for President Barack Obama’s re-election.

He discussed what it was like with Costello, telling her his family lived there for the duration of the war.

Trump has called for various programs against Muslims, and for deporting undocumented immigrants. Both of these acts would involve similar procedures and civil rights violations.
