Trump Sons Sell Access to Newly Inaugurated President for Million-Dollar Donations to Unnamed Charity

‘Private Reception and Photo Opportunity for 16 Guests With President Donald J. Trump’

Created just six days ago the Opening Day Foundation is looking for high-dollar donors who want to spend a lot of money for a little time with soon-to-be President Donald Trump and his family. Among the non-profit’s four directors are the president-elect’s two adult sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, according to a report by the Pulitzer Prize winning Center for Public Integrity.

A brochure first published by TMZ shows the Opening Day Foundation’s offerings include – for a donation of $1 million – “Private reception and photo opportunity for 16 guests with President Donald J. Trump. Four autographed guitars by an Opening Day 2017 performer. Multi-day hunting and/or fishing excursion for 4 guests with Donald Trump, Jr. and/or Eric Trump, and team.”

For $500,000, a similar offering for time with the just-inaugurated president and his family but for fewer guests. $250,000 gets “Private reception and photo opportunity for 4 guests with Donald Trump, Jr. and Eric Trump,” but no time with the president.

The private reception and photo opportunity with Donald Trump will take place barely 24 hours after being inaugurated president, Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.

“All net proceeds from the Opening Day event will be donated to conservation charities,” the disclaimer reads. The conservation charities are not named.

“This is problematic on so many levels,” Larry Noble, general counsel of the nonpartisan Campaign Legal Center, told the Center for Public Integrity. “This is Donald Trump and the Trump family using a brand new organization to raise $1 million contributions for a vague goal of giving money to conservation charities, which seems a way of basically just selling influence and selling the ability to meet with the president.”

Earlier this month Ivanka Trump was auctioning off a 30-45 minute coffee date with herself for $50,000 or more. The bids reached over $60,000 before the event was quietly pulled after given great attention in the press. The money was to have gone to Ivanka brother’s Eric’s charity to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
