Secretary Pat McCrory? Trump to Meet With Defeated North Carolina Governor
McCrory Has Strong Energy Background
Gov. Pat McCrory has been in North Carolina politics for more than two decades – since 1989 – but his concession on Monday was presumed to mark his end in the political sphere. That may not be true.Â
Even though the embattled anti-LGBT Republican lost his re-election bid to Democrat Roy Cooper, McCrory’s political future may be secure. Voters kicked McCrory out of office four weeks ago, but McCrory helped deliver his battleground state to Donald Trump. In fact, Trump took North Carolina by 3.6 percentage points.Â
So perhaps we should not be surprised that the soon-to-be unemployed Pat McCrory is meeting with the president-elect on Wednesday, at Trump Tower in Manhattan. No word yet on why.
McCrory, it should be noted, worked for a major energy firm, Duke Energy, for 28 years. Duke, based in the Tar Heel State, also has holdings in South Carolina, Florida, Indiana, Ohio, Puerto Rico, Canada, and Latin America.
