RNC Denies It Compared Trump To Jesus, Blames Media For “Attack On Christ”

Incoming White House Press Secretary Goes Ballistic On Twitter

Sean Spicer, spokesman for the Republican National Committee and incoming White House press secretary, denied Sunday that a Christmas Day press release from the RNC referred to President-elect Donald Trump as the “new king” and compared him to Jesus. 

As we reported, many on social media were outraged by the RNC release, which read: “Over two millennia ago, a new hope was born into the world, a Savior who would offer the promise of salvation to all mankind. Just as the three wise men did on that night, this Christmas heralds a time to celebrate the good news of a new King.” 

In response to questions about whether the RNC’s Christmas message was referring to Trump, Spicer told BuzzFeed News: “I hope you are kidding. Christ is the King in the Christian faith. To ask this on Christmas is frankly offensive.”

But Spicer wasn’t done. He went on to attack both CNN and BuzzFeed, as well as individual journalists, for reporting on the RNC’s Christmas message and inquiring whether it referred to Trump. Spicer accused the media of attacking Jesus on Christmas and mocking the GOP for acknowledging that he is the king of Christians.
