Mike Huckabee Asks if Nancy Pelosi Is ‘Racist or Just Dumb’ for Her Criticism of Ben Carson Nomination
Huckabee Must Also Think Dr. Carson Is ‘Racist or Just Dumb’ Too
It’s astounding thatMike Huckabee has been an ordained minister, an elected politician, a TV show host, a musician, among other accomplishments, and yet doesn’t know what the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development does, and doesn’t know what the word “racist” means.
Monday afternoon the former Arkansas governor tweeted an accusation, asking if House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi is “racist or just dumb” because she opposes the nomination of Dr. Ben Carson to become Donald Trump’s Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.
Ben Carson is first HUD Sec to have actually lived in gov’t housing. Fancy Nancy Pelosi says he’s not qualified; is she racist or just dumb?

Given Huckabee’s logic, one could easily ask if the former GOP presidential candidate is sexist because he’s attacking a woman.
But that’s not how this works.
The first woman to ever become Speaker of the House did not criticize Dr. Carson’s nomination because he’s Black, contrary to what Huckabee accuses, she criticized the nomination because Dr. Carson is wholly unqualified for the job.
Our country deserves a HUD Secretary with the relevant experience. Dr. Carson is a disturbingly unqualified choice. https://t.co/BvlXlJw0xq pic.twitter.com/gCYaiIfmj3

Huckabee apparently believes that having lived in “government housing” is qualification enough to become the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.Â
It’s not.
HUD is a federal bureaucracy with a $33 billion budget and over 8400 employees. It is responsible creating and enforcing policy, and its mission statement says it is working to “strengthen the housing market to bolster the economy and protect consumers.”

It also interfaces with other federal agencies, and requires leaders who are well-versed in the mortgage industry, contracting and building, economic policy, community planning and development, federal grants, risk management, and many other areas which Dr. Carson is unfamiliar.
Even Carson said he was unqualified to accept a Cabinet level position.Â
“Having me as a federal bureaucrat would be like a fish out of water, quite frankly,†Carson said just weeks ago.
According to Gov. Huckabee then, perhaps Dr. Carson is “racist or just dumb” then.
Some responses via Twitter:
@GovMikeHuckabee just because I’ve been on a train before, doesn’t mean I can be a conductor without training. What kind of BS logic is that

.@GovMikeHuckabee I went to public school, and yet that doesn’t make me qualified to run the Department of Education. Your logic is… um…

@GovMikeHuckabee I spent a good chunk of my childhood living on food stamps, does this mean I’m qualified to run SNAP?

. @GovMikeHuckabee I went to public school. I am in no way qualified to be secretary of education. Do you know what a red herring is?

@GovMikeHuckabee Ben Carson said Ben Carson wasn’t qualified.

@GovMikeHuckabee I actually flew on a plane. But fancy airlines say I am not qualified to be the pilot. Are they racist or just dumb?
