It’s Not Over: Stein Plans Federal Lawsuit Seeking Recount In Pennsylvania
Green Party Candidate To Rally Outside Trump Tower On Monday
On Monday, I will escalate #Recount2016 in PA and file to demand a statewide recount on constitutional grounds. The people deserve answers.

Hours after dropping a lawsuit in state court seeking a recount in Pennsylvania, Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein announced Saturday that she’ll file a federal lawsuit Monday with the same goal.Â
Stein’s decision to drop the state lawsuit led some to conclude that the presidential race was finally, in fact, over. To change the outcome of the election, Hillary Clinton would need to flip all three states where Stein sought a recount — Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin.Â
While recount efforts are moving forward in Michigan and Wisconsin — despite legal opposition from Donald Trump and his supporters — Stein dropped the Pennsylvania lawsuit because she said her campaign couldn’t afford the $1 million bond required by a judge.Â
Stein had raised more than $7 million for recounts in all three states as of Sunday morning.Â
How odd is it that we must jump through bureaucratic hoops and raise millions of dollars so we can trust our election results? #Recount2016

“How odd is it that we must jump through bureaucratic hoops and raise millions of dollars so we can trust our election results?” Stein wrote on Twitter on Saturday. “#Recount2016 is so expensive because of elected leaders who have refused to invest in a 21st-century voting system.”Â
Stein also plans a rally Monday outside Trump Tower in New York City to defend the recount campaign.Â
“We won’t stand down as Donald Trump and his allies seek to frivolously obstruct the legal processes set up to ensure we have a voting system we can trust and that all votes have been counted,†she said in a statement.
