Internet Mourns Passing of Pop Star George Michael

Grammy Award Winning Singer Was 53

George Michael has died at the age of 53. The English singer, songwriter, producer, and Grammy award winner rose to world fame as half of the ’80s pop dance duo WHAM! Among his best-known songs are “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go,” and “Last Christmas.”

“It is with great sadness that we can confirm our beloved son, brother and friend George passed away peacefully at home over the Christmas period,” Michael’s publicist said, as the BBC reports.

“The family would ask that their privacy be respected at this difficult and emotional time. There will be no further comment at this stage.”
