Fox News Shuts Down Fox News Latino, Literally One Month After Election

‘Existing Original FNL Stories Will Be Redirected to Their New Home on FoxNews.com’

One month after the election, Fox News is shutting down its Fox News Latino division, effective today.

Here’s how Fox News Latino looked online just one week ago, December 1:

Fox News Latino’s homepage, formerly at latino.foxnews.com, now redirects to foxnews.com/category/latino. Fox News Latino published in English and Spanish, but its Spanish website, formerly at latino.foxnews.com/espanol, now also forwards to the English Fox News website.

Last week, Fox News made the announcement, but instead of saying it was shutting down, here’s how Fox News described the decision:

“On Dec. 8, Fox News Latino (FNL) content will be made available across a wider range of the FoxNews.com website,” the company explained, putting an upbeat spin on the news.

“The FNL team’s reporting will be published in relevant FoxNews.com sections – including US, World, Politics, Opinion, Entertainment, Lifestyle, Health, Science and Tech. This will allow more FNL stories to be seen by the larger Fox News audience across all platforms – including Fox News mobile, apps, Apple News, and Facebook Instant Articles,” which sounds inclusive.

“Existing original FNL stories will be redirected to their new home on FoxNews.com. Visitors to FoxNewsLatino.com, meanwhile, will be redirected to a collection of Latino-focused content published across Fox News.com.”

Former Fox News Latino reporter Bryan Llenas, now a Fox News national correspondent, notes Fox News Latino employees will be absorbed into Fox News.

While its Twitter page is still active, URLs all forward to Fox News.
