As Obama Delivers Stunning Blow to Russia Over Extensive Hacking, Fox News Says Russia Just ‘Meddling’

One Russian Operative Accused of Stealing ‘Over $100 Million From U.S. Financial Institutions, Fortune 500 Firms, Universities, and Government Agencies’

Most of what Russia has been doing in and to America hasn’t been widely reported, even after today’s revelations delivered by the Obama administration’s State and Treasury Departments and the President himself. For instance, one of the 35 Russian operatives the Obama administration just ordered to leave the country within 72 hours is accused by Treasury Dept. of “the theft of over $100 million from U.S. financial institutions, Fortune 500 firms, universities, and government agencies.” Another, the Treasury statement says, “compromised the computer networks of at least three major United States-based e-commerce companies” and “engaged in the significant malicious cyber-enabled misappropriation of personal identifiers for private financial gain.”

Those are just two operatives. And that doesn’t include the fact that 17 U.S. intelligence agencies agree that the Russian government hacked the DNC and John Podesta’s emails. Or the revelation today that the Russian government owns two huge compounds in New York City and Delaware that act as giant spy facilities and can listen in on cell conversations up to 40 miles away.

Russia hacked the election. Russia hacked DNC emails. Russian diplomats are accused of committing theft of hundreds of millions of dollars from U.S. companies and government agencies.

The list goes on and on and on.

So what does Fox News have to say?

Fox News says this assault on American democracy and U.S. Companies and the federal government itself is merely a “controversy.”

Russia, according to Fox News, is merely “meddling.”

Even a Fox News op-ed that is supportive of President Obama’s actions today uses the word “meddling,” and offers a title that paints the Commander-in-Chief as weak. An article Wednesday also describes Russia as having been “allegedly meddling,” despite the firm conclusion of 17 U.S. intelligence agencies.
