WATCH: Trump Tells Diners at Iconic Manhattan Restaurant ‘We’ll Get Your Taxes Down-Don’t Worry About It’

Gets Applause and Cheers

President-elect Donald Trump Tuesday evening ditched his press pool and headed over to New York City’s iconic 21 Club where he proceeded to promise Manhattan’s upper class he will cut their taxes.

“We’ll get your taxes down—don’t worry about it,” the billionaire told diners at the former speakeasy, a landmark built in 1922 where a caesar salad costs $19, a burger $36, a steak $68, and a slice of apple pie $14. They applauded and cheered him.

Trump had ditched his press pool, but NBC News’ Hallie Jackson managed to find out where he was headed and get a reservation. She filmed this short clip and asked him why he hadn’t told the press, which Trump ignored.

Trump wasn’t lying about lowering taxes for the rich. His tax plan will significantly lower taxes for the wealthy and significantly raise taxes for low and middle-income families, especially for single parents.

Bloomberg reporter Taylor Riggs posted this photo, although got the name of the restaurant incorrect:
