WATCH: Ted Cruz Just Cannot Recant Claim Trump Is a ‘Pathological Liar,’ but Supports Him Fully Anyway

‘The Man Is Utterly Amoral’ Cruz Had Said Just Months Ago

Sunday morning Senator Ted Cruz refused to recant his comments during the presidential campaign, during which he called Donald Trump a “pathological liar,” and “utterly amoral.” The Republican Texas Tea Party lawmaker who is reportedly still under consideration for a position in the president-elect’s administration talked with ABC News’ Martha Radditz, who asked him, “Do you still think Donald Trump is a liar?”

Cruz, ever the politician, smirked and chuckled, refusing to give a straight yes or no answer.

“You know, I’m not going to re-litigate the past. I’m going to focus on the future. I’m going to focus on what’s in front of us,” Cruz responded.

Back in May, when Cruz unleashed his anger at Trump, he had good reason. Trump had claimed, with the help of a tabloid story, that Cruz’s father was helping Lee Harvey Oswald just before he assasinated President John F. Kennedy, and Trump also threatened and attacked Cruz’s wife.

Cruz held a news conference, telling reporters Trump – in addition to being a “pathological liar,” and “utterly amoral” – was “a narcissist at a level I don’t think this country’s ever seen,” and “a serial philanderer.”

“He is proud of being a serial philanderer … he describes his own battles with venereal diseases as his own personal Vietnam,” Cruz charged.

“This man is a pathological liar, he doesn’t know the difference between truth and lies,” Cruz continued, “in a pattern that is straight out of a psychology text book, he accuses everyone of lying,” he insisted.

“Whatever lie he’s telling, at that minute he believes it … the man is utterly amoral,” Cruz said. “Donald is a bully … bullies don’t come from strength they come from weakness.”

But now that Trump has won, while Cruz won’t recant his charges – why should he? – he also insists on supporting Trump in every manner possible.

He went so far as to call Trump’s administration selections to date “a team of all stars that are coming together,” when in reality they are the least-experienced group in modern history assembled to help lead the nation.

In Sunday’s interview, Cruz had the audacity to tell Radditz, “my focus is on the country. My focus is we have a new president. We have a mandate.”

No, actually, you don’t.

Hillary Clinton may have lost the election thanks to the Electoral College, but she currently is beating Trump by well over 2.2 million votes.

That’s not a mandate, that’s a shame.
