WATCH: Mike Pence Went to See Hamilton on Broadway and Got Booed

The Cast Addressed Pence Directly as the Show Ended

Vice President-elect Mike Pence, the head of the Trump transition team, took a break after announcing three top nominees Friday to take in a Broadway show, “Hamilton.” He got booed. And, cheered, a bit.

The hit show, which is sold out for months, was created by and starred Lin Manuel Miranda, an award-winning actor, composer, writer, and singer of Puerto Rican descent. It is a tale of the founding fathers and the creation of the United States of America.

The cast, as they themselves told Pence, are exceptionally diverse. Pence is known for his anti-LGBT and anti-women views, and he supports Trump’s anti-immigrant policies and Trump himself, who promotes racism and white nationalists.

At the end of the performance, the cast addressed Pence directly, saying, “We have a message for you sir. We hope that you will hear us out.”

“We are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new adminstration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights, sir. We truly hope that this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and work on behalf of all of us – all of us.”

Some denounced the booing of the incoming vice president, while others noted his policy stances made the booing well-deserved:
