Son-in-Law Jared Kushner Also Attended
President-elect Donald Trump has ignored every warning, every voice raised over his offensive and unacceptable decisions, such as awarding his campaign CEO a position as a top White House strategist and senior aide, and requesting top secret security clearance for his son-in-law Jared Kushner. Now, one more assault on acceptable protocol and norms.
Ivanka Trump attended her father’s 90-minute meeting with the Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe, President-elect Trump’s first official meeting with a foreign head of state.Â
As did Jared Kushner, Ivanka’s husband and the man Trump is trying to get top secret security clearance for:
Usually that meeting would have been with the Prime Minister of England, so Trump has already thumbed his nose at convention and offended the British, but to have his daughter – who has zero foreign policy experience or expertise, and zero security clearance, is wholly unacceptable.
Journalists, political wonks, and others on Twitter right now are freaking out that the meeting included the First Daughter-elect, after a photograph was leaked. It’s been tweeted many times but many reporters have deleted it after the Trump team told journalists there was to be no press allowed.
Note that Trump did not have a plan, does not know protocol or Japanese customs, does not know what negotiations are going on currently between the U.S. and Japan, and hasn’t even met with the Department of State yet.
This isn’t just winging it, this is dangerous.
