Trump Requests Security Clearance for Son-in-Law Jared Kushner (Video)

35 Year Old Has No Experience in Government, Domestic or Foreign Policy, or National Security

Donald Trump’s transition team has requested top level security clearance for the President-elect’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, ABC News reports, citing “sources close to Trump team and the intelligence community.”

The move is both highly controversial and unprecedented. Kushner has no experience in government, domestic or foreign policy, or national security. He served as a top advisor to Trump during the campaign, and was one of a few who traveled with Trump to the White House last week.

Kushner, who is 35, like his father-in-law is a real estate developer who inherited his wealth. With it he purchased a flailing conservative weekly tabloid, the New York Observer, which as of last week ceased print publication. In 2009 Kushner married Trump’s daughter Ivanka.

ABC News also reports that New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has been “let go.” Christie, as a U.S. Attorney, prosecuted Kushner’s father for tax evasion and campaign finance violation. Kushner’s father spent one year in jail, and some see the dismissal of Christie and anyone tied to him this week as retribution by Kushner.
