Just a Typical Trump Rally…
In Atkinson, New Hampshire, Friday afternoon Donald Trump surrogate and former GOP governor John Sununu warmed up the audience by attacking Hillary Clinton. His rhetoric was so successful the crowd at times chanted, “Lock her up! Lock her up! Lock her up!” and even, “Execute her!”
At one point Sununu thought it appropriate to tell the crowd a “joke.”
“Do you think Bill was referring Hillary when he said, ‘I did not have sex with that woman?’†Sununu quipped.
As ThinkProgress’ Aaron Rupar reports, “the ugliest moment came when Sununu turned his attention to Hillary Clinton directly. During a break in between Sununu’s attacks, the familiar Trump rally chant of ‘lock her up!’ was intermingled with some saying ‘execute her!'”
Surprisingly, Sununu actually waved off the rally-goer calling for Clinton’s death, saying, “No, you don’t need that kind of stuff.” The AP also reported on the crowd’s comments.
Trump has gone out of his way to paint Clinton as a dishonest traitor. This week he repeatedly told audiences that Hillary Clinton would “likely” soon be indicted, basing his lie on a retracted and false Fox News report.
