President-elect Donald Trump is accusing the Broadway cast of “Hamilton” of harassing Vice President-elect Mike Pence and demanding an apology.Â
As we reported, Pence was met with boos from the audience when he attended the hit show Friday night. At the end of the performance, the cast addressed Pence directly:Â
“We are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new adminstration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights, sir. We truly hope that this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and work on behalf of all of us – all of us. We truly thank you for sharing this show — this wonderful American story told by a diverse group of men, women of different colors, creeds and orientations.â€
On Saturday morning, Trump alleged that Pence was “harassed” with “cameras blazing.”Â
“This should not happen,” Trump wrote. “The Theater must always be a safe and special place. The cast of Hamilton was very rude last night to a very good man, Mike Pence. Apologize!”Â
Actor Brandon Victor Dixon, who led the “Hamilton” cast in delivering the message to Pence, responded in a tweet saying “conversation is not harassment”:Â
@realDonaldTrump conversation is not harassment sir. And I appreciate @mike_pence for stopping to listen.

Perhaps the Hamilton cast should have been allowed to bar Pence from the theatre. You know, because of their religious beliefs. https://t.co/bqsNonQT7M

A man who has repeatedly treated people with disrespect demands an apology for rudeness from a Broadway cast. Amazing. https://t.co/uiUV88wlbr

I love how Trump calls freedom of speech “harassment.” Maybe someone should tell him what grabbing women by the p*ssy is … #onetermTrump https://t.co/Hx4wBkGpVC

Trump will continue to revel in slights from the elite. He’ll use this to jack up his support amongst rural whites even further. https://t.co/GIBFpYrtSK

Trump has now offered stronger condemnation of the booing of a man at the theatre, than he has of the hate crimes done in his name.
