No, Elton John Will Not Be Performing at Donald Trump’s Inauguration

Like Many Things Trump, They Appear to Have Lied

Elton John will not be performing at Donald Trump’s inauguration, contrary to the claim of one of the top representatives of Trump’s inaugural committee. Yes, just one more falsehood out of the Trump team.

“Elton John is going to be doing our concert on the mall for Inauguration,” Anthony Scaramucci, vice chair of the presidential inaugural committee, said Tuesday on the BBC’s “HARDtalk,” as The Hill reported.

That’s false, according to a representative for Elton John, the NY Post insists.

“Elton will not be performing at Trump’s inauguration,” the unnamed representative said.

“This will be the first American president in U.S. history that enters the White House with a pro-gay rights stance,” Scaramucci, who calls himself “a gay rights activist, falsely told the BBC. Scaramucci is a New York investment banker who also hosts Fox News Business’ “Wall Street Week.”

Donald Trump does not support same-sex marriage, and is opposed to several other LGBT civil rights issues. Barack Obama, despite his public opposition to marriage equality when he was elected, supported far more LGBT civil rights than Donald Trump does today.

For his part, Elton John is a big supporter of Hillary Clinton, calling her a “humanitarian,” and Trump a “barbarian.”

“She is, without a doubt, the only candidate supremely qualified to lead this great nation in these challenging times,” he said in October at a Clinton fundraiser.

“I’ve dedicated the past quarter century of my life to the fight against AIDS—to advocating for the human rights of all people… no matter who they are, who they love, or where they live. And Hillary has been doing this important work—fighting for equality, for the rights of all people—long before I was. She’s amassed an astonishing record of achievement—unmatched by any American politician today.”
