Megyn Kelly: ‘I Don’t Know There Is Evidence’ That Steve Bannon Is a White Supremacist
Bannon Is a Champion of White Nationalists and White Supremacists
Fox News host Megyn Kelly says she is not aware of evidence that the head of Breitbart News and Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, Steve Bannon, is a white supremacist. Trump is under fire from many sides after naming Bannon on Sunday as his top advisor, on par with incoming White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus.
“What do you say to those critics who say this is bringing a white supremacist into the White House?” ABC News host George Stephanopoulos asked Kelly Tuesday morning.
“I don’t know there is evidence of that,” Kelly responded.Â

First, shame on Stephanopoulos for using “supremacist” instead of “nationalist.” There’s no question Bannon is a white nationalist. And shame on Stephanopoulos for pointing to “Breitbart headlines” as evidence. Sure, Breitbart headlines are disturbing, but Breitbart’s content is even more disturbing.
While there is a difference, there is a fine line between white nationalism and white supremacism – many, in fact, use the terms interchangeably.
Kelly concludes that Bannon is “controversial” and joins with Bannon’s defenders who say he can’t be held responsible for every headline published.
Can he?
Yes.
As publisher, he sets the tone, and if there’s a headline, or a pattern of headlines, which he finds objectionable, t’s his responsibility to find ways to fix the problem.Â
He did not.
Mother Jones’ David Corn writes, “Bannon is indeed a champion of white nationalists and white supremacists.” Why? Because Bannon told Mother Jones he was when he bragged about turning Breitbart into the home of the alt-right.
