Clinton Ahead of Trump by 3 Points in New NYT/CBS National Poll
More Than 9 Out of 10 Voters Have Made Up Their Minds
A just-released New York Times/CBS national poll finds the race, as expected, is tightening but Hillary Clinton is leading Donald Trump by 3 points, in both a head-to-head matchup and with third-party voters included.
Perhaps more importantly, the poll finds more than 9 out of 10 voters, 92%, have made up their minds and don’t believe they will change. That 92% breaks down to 95% of both Clinton and Trump voters. And while the Times and CBS do not mention it, presidential races are won and lost in margins less than that.Â
The poll also shows FBI Director James Comey’s letter to Congress released last Friday made one in three voters less likely to vote for Clinton, while 62% said it made no difference. Among Democrats, 11% said it made them more likely to vote for her, 8% said less.Â
Meanwhile, 59% of voters said the allegations about Donald Trump sexually assaulting women made no difference to them. Only 15% of Republican said it made them less likely to vote for Trump, and 4% said it made them more likely to vote for him.Â
Despite his efforts, Trump is winning over just 2% of Black voters. Clinton has won over 83% of Black voters.
