Breitbart Declares ‘War’ on Kellogg’s and Others Who, Citing Values, Refuse to Advertise With Them

‘We’ll Handle This the Way We Always Do — War’

The website that was run by Donald Trump’s incoming chief White House adviser and strategist, Breitbart, is declaring “war” against companies who are realizing its content does not align with their corporate values. Kellogg’s, Allstate, Warby-Parker, Nest, EarthLink, SoFi, and other brands are pulling ads from the site, which former publisher Steve Bannon once bragged is “the platform for the alt-right“ – white nationalists and white supremacists, misogynists, homophobes, and others.

Breitbart, which has happily pushed stories claiming billions of dollars of damage was done to Target after the big box retailer announced transgender people are welcome to use whichever restroom they are comfortable in, is now declaring those same tactics unacceptable to them.

“We’ll handle this the way we always do — war,” Breitbart CEO Larry Solov told The Hollywood Reporter. “What you’re seeing is Kellogg’s and others buying into a false, left-wing narrative that our 45 million readers are deplorables,” Solov added, referencing Hillary Clinton’s quip about some of Donald Trump’s supporters.

“Kellogg’s decision to blacklist one of the largest conservative media outlets in America is economic censorship of mainstream conservative political discourse,” Breitbart said in a statement it released to The Washington Post. “That is as un-American as it gets.”

Breitbart, however, is a far right wing website that has advocated for racist, anti-LGBT, and misogynistic beliefs. One of its writers is the president of C-FAM, an active anti-gay hate group.

“While the hard-right news and commentary site isn’t peddling porn, gambling or other types of content that would make typical advertising buyers cringe, it is one of the most widely read publishers of misogynist, anti-Semitic, anti-LGBT, fat-shaming and other hateful content,” Salon reports.

Breitbart is claiming its headlines – and not the content underneath them – is the reason advertisers and many others are boycotting them, but NCRM for many years has reported on the site’s content.

In 2013, for example, Breitbart ran an article claiming, NEW EVIDENCE FROM HIS DOCTORS SHOWS HITLER WAS GAY.

Two years earlier, Andrew Breitbart, the site’s late founder, had declared the Southern Poverty Law Center a “threat to freedom.”

In 2012 then Breitbart editor-in-chief Dana Loesch went to bat for a 14-year old conservative radio host who because he had claimed “President Obama is making kids gay.” She called his attack “civic engagement.”

Raw Story adds that Apple’s “App Store officially removed the Breitbart News app last week.”
