BREAKING: Trump Suggests That Legally, Nothing He Can Do Is a Conflict of Interest

Suggests the Law Does Not Say It Even Exists

In a Q&A Tuesday afternoon with reporters and editors at The New York Times, Donald Trump told the journalists that legally, nothing he does could be considered a conflict of interest, suggesting the law does not say it even exists.

Presidential campaign correspondent Maggie Haberman of the Times, who is currently tweeting some of the president-elect’s remarks, posted this tweet minutes ago:

The law is up for debate. Many are pointing to the Emoluments Clause, which coincidentally, the Times today wrote about, calling it “an obscure provision of the Constitution that now poses risks for President-elect Donald J. Trump should he continue to reap benefits from transactions with companies controlled by foreign governments.”
