Breaking: DNC Files Sworn Affidavits Accusing RNC of Lying About Not Deploying Poll Watchers
Trump Campaign Observer Accused of Engaging in Voter Intimidation and ‘Disruptive Behavior’
The Republican National Committee is under federal court order restricting its interference with voting at polling locations and with people casting their votes, after years of doing just that. The consent decree dates back to the 1980s, and expires next year – unless the RNC is caught engaging in interference at voting locations.
“The RNC has been under federal monitoring since it sent a ‘Ballot Security Task Force’ to minority neighborhoods in 1981,” Vox reports, explaining the lawsuit the DNC filed last week.
The RNC, according to sworn affidavits just filed Monday by the Democratic National Committee, has been lying about not deploying poll watchers.Â
In one affidavit a text message shows an RNC poll observer calling a DNC poll observer a “C*NT” who was “off her meds,” as elections expert Rick Hasen first reported today.
“The screenshot comes from the affidavit of Ellyn Lindsay, a former assistant U.S. attorney in California who was observing a poll site for the Democrats in Las Vegas,” Talking Points Memo reports. “In the affidavit, she said she met a woman named Kishanna Holland while they were both observing the early voting site at Arroyo Market Square on Saturday and Monday. Holland told Lindsay she was in Nevada on behalf of the RNC, according to the affidavit, but had also been told by the committee that she did not have to tell people she was working for Republicans.”
That’s not the only instance where the RNC is being accused of violating the court order.
“Another affidavit, given by a California attorney named Michael Lieberman, also recounts meeting a Kishanna Holland while they were both observing the Arroyo Market Square polling place. Holland first introduced herself as an independent observer, but as their conversations throughout the day revealed her conservative leanings, Holland admitted to working for the RNC, according to the affidavit, and told Lieberman that an RNC memo had instructed her to lie about her affiliation.”
There’s also this disturbing portion of the affidavit that accuses a Trump campaign observer of engaging in voter intimidation:
