Trump, Who May Not Have Paid Taxes for 18 Years: ‘I Hate the Way They Spend Our Tax Dollars’ (Video)

‘Our’?

Defending himself to a very supportive Colorado audience Monday afternoon Donald Trump alluded to the shocking news from a New York Times report that suggests the Manhattan real estate mogul may not have paid any federal income taxes for nearly a decade after losing almost a billion dollars in the 1990’s.

“I’m working for you now, I’m not working for Trump,” he told cheering supporters, who reaponded by shouting, “Trump! Trump! Trump!” repeatedly.

“I have legally used the tax laws to my benefit,” Trump admitted, not stating wherther or not the findings in the Times are accurate. “And to the benefit of my company, my investors, and my employees.

“Honestly, I have brilliantly used those laws,” he bragged. I have often said on the campaign trail that I have a fiduciary responsibility to pay no more tax than is legally required.”

“Or, put another way, to pay as little tax as legally possible.”

The New York Times report says the Republican presidential nominee “declared a $916 million loss on his 1995 income tax returns, a tax deduction so substantial it could have allowed him to legally avoid paying any federal income taxes for up to 18 years, records obtained by The New York Times show.”

“And I must tell you, I hate the way they spend our tax dollars,” Trump said Monday afternoon, leading Huffington Post White House reporter to question Trump’s use of the word “our.”

Earlier Monday, Hillary Clinton responded to the Times story by asking, “What kind of genius loses $1 billion in a single year?”
