Trump Chastises House GOP Speaker for ‘Fighting Republican Nominee’ After Ryan Refuses to Defend Him
Ryan Should ‘Not Waste His Time on Fighting Republican Nominee’ Trump Says
Donald Trump will never let any slight go unacknowledged. After Speaker of the House, literally the most powerful elected Republican in the nation, announced Monday morning he would not revoke his endorsement of the GOP nominee but would not defend or campaign with him, Trump lashed out on Twitter.
“Paul Ryan should spend more time on balancing the budget, jobs and illegal immigration and not waste his time on fighting Republican nominee,” Trump tweeted.

The two have had a contentious relationship from the start, with Ryan announcing early on he was not ready to endorse Trump. Trump turned the tables on Ryan, who, as all House members are this year is running for re-election. The billionaire businessman announced he was not ready to endorse the House Speaker. Both later endorsed each other.
