Armed Revolution? Some Trump Voters Say They ‘Won’t Hesitate’ to Resort to Violence if Clinton Wins

‘As a Christian, I Want Reformation. But Sometimes Reformation Comes Through Bloodshed’

Some Trump supporters are saying they believe Donald Trump is winning, and if Hillary Clinton takes the White House they will resort to violence to take their country back. Others don’t directly say they personally will take up arms but believe a Clinton win could only come through a rigged or stolen election and are certain others will violently take to the streets.

It is a frightening and disturbing prospect, but not surprising given how much of a cult the Trump campaign has become and how much their leader has supported violence at his rallies, and once even suggested the “the Second Amendment people” might be able to stop Clinton.

In “Some Trump Voters Call for Revolution if Clinton Wins,” The New York Times talks with several Trump supporters who discuss the possibility of violence, including 42-year old Paul Swick who “considers himself a ‘Bible Christian.'”

“But Mr. Swick, by his own estimation, also owns ‘north of 30 guns,’ and he said Mrs. Clinton would have trouble if she tried to confiscate the nation’s constitutionally protected weapons.”

“If she comes after the guns, it’s going to be a rough, bumpy road,” Swick told the Times. “I hope to God I never have to fire a round, but I won’t hesitate to. As a Christian, I want reformation. But sometimes reformation comes through bloodshed.”

62-year old Alan Weegens “also wondered aloud how the country — with so many citizens who own guns and, he said, ‘are willing to trample a grandma on Black Friday at midnight to save $5 on a toaster’ — would react if Mr. Trump lost.”

“I am not going to take my weapon to go out into the streets to protest an election I did not win,” Weegens said, “but I think that if certain events came about, a person would need to protect themselves, depending on where they lived, when your neighborhood goes up in flames.”

25-year old Jared Halbrook “said that if Mr. Trump lost to Hillary Clinton, which he worried would happen through a stolen election, it could lead to ‘another Revolutionary War.'”

“People are going to march on the capitols,” said Halbrook. “They’re going to do whatever needs to be done to get her out of office, because she does not belong there.”

“If push comes to shove,” he told the Times, and Mrs. Clinton “has to go by any means necessary, it will be done.”
