‘You Can’t Judge a Candidate by the People Around Him’
Rudy Giuliani says it’s “outrageous” to call Donald Trump a racist. The former NYC mayor also says it’s outrageous to call anyone a racist, and used an offensive gay slur to attack Virginia Democratic Governor Terry McAuliffe.
“Racist?,” Giuliani, feigning outrage, responded on MSNBC. “The last thing in the world Donald Trump is is a racist. I’ve known him for 28 years. The man likes white people. He likes black people. He likes Hispanic people. He plays golf with them.”
“To say that Donald Trump is a racist is outrageous – and to call anyone a racist is outrageous,” Giuliani proclaimed. He then said that Trump, whose company has been sued in federal court for discriminating against Blacks, has done a great deal for minorities.
Giuliani then turned his sights on Hillary Clinton, who “has a problem” and “should look in a mirror,” because she has said, “we all have implicit biases,” Giuliani offered.
“If she thinks we all have ‘implicit biases,’ I have news for you: I don’t,” said the Republican former mayor responsible for New York City’s unconstitutional Stop and Frisk program that targeted Black people.
“Maybe you do. I have no racial guilt. Not a single bit of it,” he continued. “That’s why I’m willing to tell the truth about Black crime, and what has to be done about it.”
Giuliani then went on his usual rant, claiming there is no mayor in NYC history “that has saved more Black lives than me. Nobody even close.” That claim is ridiculous.
Later in the segment Giuliani attacked MSNBC for being “completely left wing and totally anti-Trump and anti-Republican, with one or two exceptions.”
He also insisted, “You can’t judge a candidate by the people around him,” after discussion Trump’s campaign CEO Stephen Bannon, who has bragged that his Breitbart “news” website is the home of the racist and white supremacist alt-right movement.
When he got pushback, he again turned the conversation to Hillary Clinton, asking, “then what the hell is she doing with Terry McAuliffe, who’s a three-dollar bill?”
“Three-dollar bill” is an old and offensive slang term for “gay.”
