New Fox News (Yes, Fox News) Poll Puts Hillary Clinton 8 Points Over Donald Trump
Trump Loses Most Support From Women, but Support From White Evangelical Christians Remains Unchanged
Hillary Clinton is beating Donald Trump by 8 points – 49% to 41% – in a head-to-head matchup according to a just-released Fox News national poll. When including third-party candidates Clinton still beats her Republican opponent, by 7 points.
“Clinton now tops Trump on every issue tested,” Fox News reports. “More voters trust her to handle foreign policy (+24 points), health care (+13), terrorism (+11), immigration (+9), and the economy (+3).”
Fox News reports that more than half of voters say Donald Trump is not qualified to be president. Â
“Put simply, the last week has been a disaster for Trump,†says Democrat Chris Anderson, who conducted the poll with Republican pollster Daron Shaw. “And more than ever, voters think he lacks the temperament and qualifications to be president.â€Â
Clinton scores big against Trump “among non-whites (+62 points), suburban women (+24), women (+19), and voters under 30 (+16).” Trump bests Clinton among “men (+5 points), whites (+14), and whites without a college degree (+25).”
Trump lost a great deal of ground among women since last week’s Fox News poll. Overall, support for the New York billionaire dropped 12 point among women 45 and older, dropped 10 points among suburban women, dropped 7 points among white women with a college degree, and dropped 6 points among Republican women.
He also lost 11 points among voters over 65, and 6 points among white college graduates.
Despite recent revelations and accusation of sexual assault, white evangelical Christians are still supporting Trump at the same level as they did one week ago.
Meanwhile, enthusiasm among Clinton voters is even stronger, up 9 points in just one week.
Other interesting takeaways from the Fox poll: 77 percent of Americans say Donald Trump is not a good role model for children, while 54 percent of Americans say Hillary Clinton is a good role model for kids.
Trump is having such a devastating effect on the GOP overall that registered voters willing to admit they are Republicans dropped 5 percentage points in just one week.
The poll was conducted October 10-12.
