Independent Voters Push Clinton Ahead of Trump in Several Key Battleground States

Colorado, Florida, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, and Pennsylvania Could Prove Pivotal, and Clinton Leads in Five Out of Six

Hillary Clinton is now leading Donald Trump in Nevada and North Carolina in a new CNN four-way race poll poll, and in Colorado, Florida, and Pennsylvania in a new Quinnipiac four-way poll. In Ohio, Trump is leading Clinton in CNN’s poll but tied with her in Quinnipiac’s.

“Independent likely voters shift to Democrat Hillary Clinton, giving her the lead over Republican Donald Trump in the critical swing states of Colorado, Florida, and Pennsylvania and moving her into a tie with Trump in Ohio,” Quinnipiac states.

Florida is key for Trump, as is Pennsylvania, and without both Trump likely cannot win the White House.

“Of particular importance are the Clinton leads in Florida and Pennsylvania,” Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll says in their release. “Trump probably can’t win if he loses one of them, and he’s toast if he loses both. In addition, Trump’s lead in Ohio, his best big swing state, is now gone.”

Here’s how the Quinnipiac 4-way poll today looks:

Colorado: Clinton 45, Trump 37.

Florida: Clinton 48, Trump 44.

Ohio: Clinton and Trump both take 45.

Pennsylvania: Clinton 47, Trump 41.

And here are CNN’s 4-way numbers:

Voters should expect Wednesday night’s final presidential debate to be even more caustic than the second, and Trump’s attacks to get even worse.
