Democrats Raise Over $13,000 for Republican Party’s Office in North Carolina That Was Firebombed

‘We Cannot Know Who Did This or Why’ but ‘This Is Not How Americans Resolve Their Differences’

Sunday evening, after the headquarters of the Orange County, North Carolina Republican Party office were firebombed and a nearby building vandalized with the words, “Nazi Republicans leave town or else,” some Democrats joined together to help. They created a GoFundMe page to help them rebuild.

“As Democrats, we are starting this campaign to enable the Orange County, North Carolina Republican office to re-open as soon as possible,” the GoFundMe page reads.

“Until an investigation is undertaken, we cannot know who did this or why. No matter the result, this is not how Americans resolve their differences. We talk, we argue, sometimes we march, and most of all we vote. We do not resort to violence by individuals or by mobs.”

In less than 40 minutes they reached their goal of $10,000. Donations to the page now total $13,117 and the page is now closed to further fundraising. 551 people donated.

Both presidential candidates denounced the act, with Hillary Clinton calling it “horrific and unacceptable” and noting she was glad no one was physically harmed.

But, as NCRM reported Sunday, Trump was less gracious.

“Animals representing Hillary Clinton and Dems in North Carolina just firebombed our office in Orange County because we are winning,” he tweeted, despite zero evidence of who the attackers were. Trump is actually not “winning” in North Carolina, or nationally, Clinton is, and the office is in a heavily-Democratic county.
