Chuck Todd Predicts Republicans ‘May Be Staring at a Total Collapse of the Party by Election Day’

Some May Have Been Fooled, ‘Like Stepping Outside in the Eye of a Hurricane’

Republican politicians who have decided to stick with Donald Trump may regret it, and soon, warns NBC News’ Chuck Todd. While some revoked their endorsement of the GOP presidential nominee before Sunday night’s debate, over his comments describing sexual assault in a 2005 tape, others seem to be under the impression Trump stopped the bleeding and is still a viable candidate.

They’re wrong, Todd warns, suggesting Trump may blow up the party over the next four weeks.

NBC News anchor Lester Holt today described it as a “civil war” within the GOP, with many Republican lawmakers “abandoning” Trump to save themselves.

“I think a bunch of these Republicans woke up today, stepped outside and thought, like stepping outside in the eye of a hurricane assuming, Lester, ‘Oh, everything’s OK,’ when they don’t realize the worst may be yet to come with Trump,” Todd told Holt.

“They may be staring at a total collapse of the party by Election Day,” Todd warned.
