Billionaire Peter Thiel Says Trump Has ‘Indicated’ That ‘He’d Be Quite Expansive on Gay Rights’

Gay Libertarian Donated $1.25 Million to Trump After ‘Access Hollywood’ Tape Came Out

Peter Thiel says Donald Trump has “indicated” that he will expand civil rights for LGBT people. In an hour-long press conference at the National Press Club Monday Thiel made the outrageously false remark and answered questions about his fellow billionaire and about the Gawker lawsuit he bankrolled that resulted in the bankruptcy of the 13-year old media company. The billionaire tech investor supports the GOP nominee and recently gave $1.25 million to Trump and his super PAC.

“I have not had conversations with Mr. Trump on that specific subject,” Thiel admitted when asked Monday if a President Trump would try to “roll back progress on LGBT rights,” or if “his appointments to the Supreme Court wouldn’t undo the rulings on same-sex marriage nationwide.”

“I do think he represents a sea-change from the Republican party of Bush 43,” Thiel could only offer, referring to former President George W. Bush.

“You just look at the way Bush 43 was speaking negatively about gay marriage at every single campaign event in the 2004 election. Everything [Trump’s] indicated is that he’d be quite expansive on gay rights,” Thiel said, Recode reported.

Here’s that segment:

Trump doesn’t talk like a far right wing Christian conservative, but they share the same policies.

As NCRM reported earlier today when LGBT conservatives on social media tried to claim Trump supports LGBT civil rights because he held up a pride flag at a rally on Saturday for 10 seconds, Trump is anti-gay. Period.

It is disingenuous – or extremely ignorant – of Peter Thiel to try to suggest otherwise.

Donald Trump opposes same-sex marriage.

Donald Trump has promised to place on the Supreme Court justices who would overturn Obergefell, specifically because they would overturn Obergefell.

Donald Trump opposes the right of transgender people to use the restrooms that correspond with their gender identity.

Donald Trump opposes equal spousal benefits for same-sex couples.

Donald Trump has promised far right wing Christian conservatives he will “restore faith to its proper mantle in our society,” and his administration “will respect and defend Christian Americans. Christian Americans.”

Donald Trump has said he will sign the dangerous First Amendment Defense Act, which would carve out special rights for anti-LGBT people of faith to allow them to legally discriminate against LGBT people on religious grounds.

No wonder Donald Trump is polling at 12 percent among LGBT voters.
