‘Why’d It Take You This Long?’: Watch Obama Mock ‘Family Values’ Republicans Finally Dumping Trump

‘You Said You’re the Party of Family Values? What, You Weren’t Appalled Earlier?’

President Barack Obama late Friday morning mocked Republican politicians who are finally distancing themselves from their party’s presidential nominee and refusing to vote for him.

“Some Republicans who knew better stood by silently, and even during the course of this campaign, and didn’t say anything,” the President, who has less than 100 days left in office, charged.

“I know that some of them now are walking away, but why’d it take you this long?” Obama asked rhetorically as he campaigned for Hillary Clinton in Cleveland. The audience responded enthusiastically.

“You said you’re the party of family values? What, you weren’t appalled earlier?” he continued, as the crowd began to laugh, “when he was saying degrading things about women?”

“When he was judging them based on a score – were they a ‘2’ or a ’10’? That wasn’t enough for you? You’re walking away from him now. It wasn’t disturbing enough for you when he was saying Mexicans who come here are rapists? Or, when he was suggesting patriotic Americans, people of the Islamic faith, somehow are suspect and should be treated differently?”

“That wasn’t enough?”

One week ago The Washington Post published a 2005 “access Hollywood” video in which Donald Trump brags about sexually assaulting women, and uses lewd language. Some Republican state and federal lawmakers and pundits distanced themselves from him at that point. But at the second presidential debate Sunday night Trump denied that he was describing sexual assault and insisted he has never sexually assaulted women. That performance is widely credited with stopping the bleeding and caused some who denounced him to return to supporting the GOP candidate.

On Friday, President Obama called out their hypocrisy.
